Entry into Force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW)
Sheffield ICAN Partners carry flags of all the nations that have ratified the Treaty in the city centre.
(11am) Glasgow CND Iona Soper and Johnnie Hunter live from Faslane.
(11.30 am) Network of Christian Peace Organisations.
(12 noon) Thanksgiving Service on Zoom finishing with bell ringing at Coventry Cathedral at 12noon.
(12 noon) Ringing in the Treaty
You can:
- Get outside your own house and ring bells or bang on pots and pans at 12 noon to mark the occasion to let people on your street know about this historic event.
Join with St. Mark’s Church Portobello, Leith Churches and others up and down the country.
Hastings Borough Council will fly the TPNW flag from the Town Hall and seafront Council Buildings.
Leeds City Council (a TPNW supporting council since 13thJanuary) will plant a Peace Tree in Park Square and fly the UN flag from the town Hall.

With performances recorded by MPD Patrons Wissam Boustany, Julian Jacobson (with Mariko Brown), Roger Vignoles (with James Gilchrist and Guy Elliot) and Peggy Seeger, as well as Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, Joy Lisney and the Primrose Piano Quartet. They will be joined by guest speaker Dr. Tilman Ruff, who was co-founder and founding Chair of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) in Australia and internationally.
